Did I mention that I have major issues with the costume department for this show?
Young Americans
Channel 4,5.55pm
As if there weren't already enough pouting, tousle-haired pretty-boys wandering
around the prestigious Rawley Academy with nothing better to do than stroke
their oars (these guys row, you see). Now there's a new blond boy to flex his
jaw muscles and arch his cheekbones in a vaguely villainous manner. And don't
we recognize the saucy young scamp playing this new bad boy of the class? Yep,
it's none other than Britain's won Charlie Hunnam, famous for allowing Aiden
Guillen's tongue to probe where the sun don't shine in his role as Nathan in
Queer As Folk. At first, it's rather an odd sight to see little Charlie poncing
around this oh-so-glossy American teen drama as if he owned the thing, but once
you get used to his rather vague approximation of an American accent, he only
adds to the splendidly preposterous air of unreality which pervades the entire
enterprise. Especially when he acts all evil by videotaping nice teacher Finn
snogging the dean's wife. There are only five more episodes of this nutty show
left, so enjoy them while you can.
