Birthday Project 2005
We raised $2,227.60 for this project! Absolutely awesome! I can't thank everyone who participated enough. It means so much to everyone involved, especially the kids who attend the camp! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
For the past several years, fans have asked about celebrating Ian's birthday. We usually try to do something together. This year, we're still doing something together, but we're going to do something a little bit different. It may be Ian's birthday, but someone else is going to get the present.
In August, Ian visited Camp Rainbow Gold, a summer camp for children ages 6 through 16 with cancer. He was very touched by the camp and the children there. The camp is free of charge for the children that attend each year. Doctors, nurses and counselors donate their time to run the camp, many of them cancer survivors themselves. Between now and December 1st we'd like to collect donations. On Ian's birthday, we're going to present the camp with a check for the total amount collected in honor of Ian. It's Ian's birthday, but Camp Rainbow Gold gets the gift. Personally, I think Ian will love it.
This is the first time we've done something like this and we'd like it to be a big success. Please spread the word! We're going to need a lot of people to make this work. Tell your friends, post the banners or this notice anywhere you can. The camp and the children that attend it each year will love you for it and so will Ian.
Donations can be sent via Paypal to charity@mediablvd.com or mailed to Ian's Birthday Project, PO Box 501, Canton, ME 04221. Checks or money orders should be made out to Camp Rainbow Gold. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You can email Debi at dhutch@iansomerhalder.net or Selkie@mediablvd.com or by posting your questions on the Birthday Project Thread. If you'd like more information about the camp, click here or call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-632-5934. None of us working on this project are affiliated with the American Cancer Society or Camp Rainbow Gold directly. We just thought it was a great place to send Ian's "birthday present" and we are all volunteers ourselves. Everything you donate will go to the camp.
If you would still like to send a card or gift to Ian, you can send them to the PO Box listed above. Items will be collected until December 5th and sent to Ian in time for his birthday on December 8th. Does Ian know about this? No way! It's his birthday present! We'd like to keep it a surprise for as long as possible. Given the fact that we're advertising it all over the place, we're pretty sure he's going to see it sooner or later, but we'd still like to try and keep it a secret for a while. And the final gift will be a surprise to all of us since we won't know how well we did until December 5th when we total everything up and get the check ready for Camp Rainbow Gold. So please, spread the word and help out by making any donation you can.
Let's make this a very happy birthday for Ian and Camp Rainbow Gold!
