Ian as Paul Denton

Rules of Attraction is due in movie theaters October 11, 2002.  There are three teasers to watch in the meantime.  Version one of "Adjectives" was posted on Roger Avary's site a few months ago, but the MPAA decided that it needed a little "cleaning up."  So now we have version two of Adjectives which you can see on the video releases of movies like O and Monster's Ball Click here for some of Vertigo's screen caps from the "Adjectives" teaser or click here to watch the first version.  Click here to watch the second version of Adjectives.  A different teaser, "Clanky," was made for the overseas market.  You'll never see Clanky approved by the MPAA!  You can watch "Clanky" or check out Estee's screen caps.

Click on the Plushies poster!  The full size version is hilarious.  Better yet, print out copies and post them all over your hometown.

Roger Avary has sent out 25 iTeasers to keep us busy until October 11th.  Click here for the iTeaser page.  The official ROA trailer can be seen in front of movies like Blue Crush and Fear Dot Com.  Check with your local theater though as they decide what to put in front of the movies and may not be showing ROA.

There is now a Yahoo Group for ROA, too.  Want the latest information on ROA delivered to your email?  Click here to join the group.

The new movie poster is out!  Click here for a full size version and more information from Roger about the poster.

ROA will be featured on Anatomy of a Scene.  Click here for more details.

Rules of Attraction is based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis.  Between the book and the director, Roger Avary, you can bet this will be one very wild and intense movie.  They began filming on August 17, 2001 in and around LA.  Roger Avary keeps an online journal at his website where you can read production information and some rather juicy behind-the-scenes details.

The basic premise of the movie?  It's set at an affluent (but fictional) New England liberal arts college and takes a satiric look at the sexual triangle between Sean Bateman, who deals drugs on the side, Paul, who's bisexual, and Paul's ex-girlfriend/Sean's girlfriend, Lauren.  Drinking, drugs and bed hopping seem to be the main courses of instruction at this college!

Interested, yet?  Now imagine Ian as Paul and James as Sean.  Very, very interesting....

Filming wrapped on October 10th and the movie is scheduled for release October 11, 2002.  A test screening took place in Orange County, CA on February 27th.

While you're waiting for the movie to come out - read the book.  It's an easy read and the mental images you'll get while reading are something.  If you haven't read them or it's been awhile, brush up on Bret's other novels - Less Than Zero (yes, like the movie) which comes before Rules and American Psycho (also like the movie, which comes after Rules) both contain characters who appear in the book version of ROA - we'll have to wait and see who shows up in the movie.
