Pulse (2006)
Ian headed for Romania in May to start work on his first post-Lost project, Pulse. A horror movie based on the Japanese movie Kairo. The movie is directed by Jim Sonzero, written by Ray Wright and stars Ian, Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Rick Gonzalez (Coach Carter), Samm Levine (Freaks and Geeks), and Christian Milian (Be Cool). Filming continues through this summer and the movie is scheduled for release on August 11, 2006.
When asked about the movie in the Friday Five Ian answered: It's based on the Japanese film “Kairo (Circuit)” about a series of strange incidents that start to arise from what ends up being ghosts coming through the Internet. Our version will be in 2006 and what our fearless leader/director Jim Sonzero along with “The” Mr. Bob Weinstein, Kristen Bell and myself believe is a metaphor for what and how technology is not bringing the world together as individuals but actually isolating us. The byproduct? A lonesomeness that can and may become a strain of social degradation. In the end, I believe its a love story about two people who find each other in the insanity that we call our world...
IMDB lists the movie summary as: A group of college students who discover that a computer hacker friend of theirs unwittingly pirated a strange wireless signal that opened a doorway for a terrifying evil to cross over into the world. As it spreads, everyone in its path is consumed, and the students must race to find a way to stop it.
