The WB Morning Show

Ian made a guest appearance on The WB Morning Show to promote Lost.  The following transcript was provided by Gary W. Rad.

WB MORNING SHOW

Original live broadcast date-  January 5, 2005

WB- As Boone on LOST...sorry I had to embarrass you... Ian Somerhalder is making girls everywhere wish they were stranded on a tropical island with him.

(clip is shown with Boone and Locke from LOST)

WB- And he is here with us this morning. Welcome, thanks for coming in !

IAN- Good morning. Thank you very much.

WB- Congratulations on the show being such a huge hit.

IAN- Thank you so much.

WB- And I know that, you know, so much of it is, you know, all this adventure...all these wild things happen on the show but...I understand you guys are no stranger to these things happening in real life as well. Like one of your costars got hit by a camera or something weird like that ?

IAN- Umm, no...and that was actually....no, that was really a bad thing. Ummm...that was sort of a misquote from a journalist.

WB- Interesting.

IAN- Yes.

WB- So what really did happen ? Has anything happened to you guys ?

IAN- You know, I think by virtue  of the intensity of what's actually happening is that , umm, yeah, you know, it tends to get a little hairy at times but it's not that bad and I think that the gentleman or lady who was writing the piece went certainly overboard.

WB- A little bit too far. Now what is it about the show you think that is so good...obviously you're on it, but why do people like it  from your understanding ?

IAN- You know I mean I  think overall it's...you know, it's several things. It's the stories, it's the cast, it's this huge thing, it's our crew, it's the location...it's a lot of things that make up this one story that sort of is, I think, weekly sort of like time and time again really really well done.

WB- Now is it true you guys have all moved to Hawaii to do this ?

IAN- We live there. Yes.

WB- So that's not bad to get paid to live in Hawaii.

IAN- No, actually I have a Hawaii drivers license, Hawaii plates...all these things that make you realize...

WB- You're a Hawaii resident.

IAN- I live in Hawaii.

WB- Is it a convertible at least ?

IAN- No.

WB- No ?

IAN- It's a big off road thing and I get permits. You can go and drive off road...

WB- Really. So have you learned, I mean, do you surf and do all that and take in all the things Hawaii has to offer when you're not working ?

IAN- I do surf but right now on the north shore the waves are, I don't know, like 15 to 25 feet...so the faces of the waves are anywhere between 25 to 40 feet.

WB- Yeah, that's not good. Dangerous. That's very smart of you not to surf those because you watch people who are and you think these people, you know, Laird Hamilton are a little nuts. Right ?

IAN- No. I'm not doing that.

WB- And plus I imagine they have you like, I know, for insurance reasons they don't want you to...right ?

IAN- Well, that was the whole basis of the whole conversation we just had a little earlier...

WB- Uh huh. I got you.

IAN- Which was a mistake, by the way !

WB- It was a mistake...

IAN- I promise.

WB- Okay.

IAN- It was.

WB- You promise. All right...what about plane experiences...have you had any plane bad turbulence or anything that scared you ?

IAN- Umm....yeah. I mean, yeah, turbulence can be, you know, never fun.. ever...EVER. Umm, but I think that when, you know, when 1,2,3, or 4 or more of the cast is sitting in the front of the plane I think people get sort of invariably uncomfortable.

WB- Yeah...gotcha. Well, thank you so much for coming in.

IAN- Thank you !

WB- Continued success with the show. You can watch LOST tonight at 8.
